Running your own work means writing a lot of messages that are easy to put off: asking for payment, saying that a request is outside the agreed scope, or asking a happy client for a testimonial. Clear, friendly wording makes all of them easier.
These templates are deliberately short and polite. Put the specific numbers and dates in the brackets, because a vague message invites a vague answer.
Hi [Name],

Send an invoice
Hi [Name], please find attached invoice [number] for [amount], due on [date]. Payment details are on the invoice. Let me know if you need anything else to process it.
Overdue invoice reminder
Hi [Name], a quick note that invoice [number] for [amount] was due on [date] and I have not seen the payment yet. Could you let me know when to expect it? I am happy to resend the invoice if that helps.
Request outside the scope
Thanks for the extra request. This falls outside the original scope of [what was agreed], so I would price it separately at [amount] with [extra time]. If you would like to go ahead, I will start as soon as you confirm.

Ask for a testimonial
I really enjoyed working on [project]. If you were happy with the result, would you be willing to write two or three sentences I could use as a testimonial? Even a short note about what changed for you would help.
Share your availability
Thanks for thinking of me. I am booked until [date] but have space from [date] onwards. If your timeline is flexible I would be glad to take this on. Shall I send over a quote?
